eBook sales almost doubled in 2010 and are approaching 10% of all consumer book sales. In October Amazon said sales of Kindle ebooks passed sales of hardcover books.
2010 also saw a price war between the Amazon Kindle, Barnes & Noble Nook, and Sony eReader which further fueled sales of ebooks. Google launched their eBook Store offering titles compatible with just about every ebook reader except Kindle (check books.google.com/ebooks).
Google said their goal is to turn every book ever published into digital form to reside in the world’s largest virtual library, which will double as a bookstore.
I’m sure 2011 is going to be a wild ride for the ebook industry! Hang on… This is going to be fun!
